In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to install SPC wall panels step by step, ensuring a smooth, professional-looking result.
Before you Start –
Before beginning installation, follow these key preparation steps:
Inspect the panels – Check for any visible defects, damage, or inconsistencies in colour or finish before installation. If you do notice such, please contact our customer service team at 01536 314730, or customerservice@wallsandfloors.co.uk.
Check the wall surface – The substrate must be flat, clean, and free from dust, grease, or moisture. Any uneven surfaces should be levelled before installation.
Suitable substrates – Trepanel Aqua Luxe® SPC Wall Panels can be installed over drywall, cement board, plywood or existing tiles. For wet areas (such as showers), ensure the substrate is properly waterproofed with a suitable barrier, like a waterproof membrane.
Remove Wall Fixtures – Take off electrical plates, vents, and other fixtures before installation. You may need longer screws when you come to reattaching them, to account for the thickness of the wall panel.

You will need:
- > Utility knife/Stanley knife
- > Measuring tape
- > Spirit level
- > Saw (Circular saw/jigsaw)
- > Drill
- > Suitable adhesive (we recommend Mapei Super Grip Panel Adhesive)
- > Silicone sealant
- > Caulking gun
Step 1 – Prepare the Wall
Start by ensuring your wall is appropriate for the installation. By this, we mean flat, stable, and moisture resistant.
If you are installing your panels in a wet area such as the shower, ensure you have waterproofed your space first. We recommend the Mapei Shower Waterproofing kit.
Step 2 – Layout and Cutting
To make sure you have the right amount of panels and that they are cut to the correct sizes, do a dry fit before adhering to the wall.
If you need to make cuts to your panels, measure these with a tape measure and mark onto the panel where you need to make your cut.
Cut our smaller panels with a utility knife by scoring and snapping, or cut our larger panels with a saw.
To cut holes out for outlets or obstacles, do so with a drill and jigsaw.

Step 3 – Applying Adhesive
Using a strong adhesive, we recommend Mapei Super Grip Panel Adhesive, apply in a zigzag pattern, with a border around the edge of the panel.
Starting left to right, or the bottom left to top right for our smaller panels, press the panel firmly against the wall.
Step 4 – Sealing & Waterproofing
Apply silicone sealant into the tongue and groove seams and edges to ensure a secure and waterproof fit.
Step 5 – Finishing Touches
Be sure to clean off excess adhesive and silicone immediately.
In wet areas of the home, be sure to use silicone sealant around all edges, joints, and cutouts, maintaining the waterproof integrity of the panels.
Maintenance:
To maintain your panels, clean with a damp cloth or mild detergent. Avoid abrasives, harsh chemicals, and solvents. Do not attach heavy objects directly onto the panels – secure them to the underlying wall.
