Expert Advice for your hallway from Jessica Taverner, Style Editor at Good Homes Magazine
Rule #1
Is your space long and narrow? Use clever tricks to make it feel more spacious, such as using up large mirrors or recessed ceiling lights along one side of the wall to create an interesting feature.

Rule #2
Does it receive any natural light? If not, avoid harsh ceiling pendants and draw the eye into the house by illuminating the far end of the hallway. Consider built-in stair lights for an ambient glow.

Rule #3
Plan a look to match your decor. If lots of rooms lead off your hall, research and choose a colour palette that complements the other rooms to create a harmonious and even natural flow.
